The jungle welcomed us with its symphony of sounds: the calls of toucans, the soft rustle of peccaries moving through the dry leaves, and the whisper of the wind carrying stories as old as time. Danier made sure we didn’t just see it but truly felt it.

Then, it happened—the moment that took my breath away. As we walked silently through the heart of the park, there it was: a tapir. Its large, gentle form emerged from the dense greenery, moving gracefully as it foraged. I couldn’t believe how peaceful and majestic it looked, almost like it belonged to another era. Danier whispered fascinating details about this incredible creature, explaining how rare it is to see one in its natural habitat. My spouse and I were lucky to have Luis... Read More as our guide—booked through Eleanor during our stay at Osa conservation—for three day hikes and three night hikes, and we would do it all over again just to learn from him. His deep knowledge of plants, animals, ecosystems, and indigenous traditions is incredible, and he brings it all to life with fascinating stories and sharp observations.

Luis is the kind of guide who makes you see differently. He notices everything, patiently answers every question, and even shares what he doesn’t know—then follows up later with an answer after asking fellow guides or researching it himself (he reads academic papers!!!). That humility and curiosity are rare, and so refreshing.

Despite heavy rain during all our night hikes, those ended up being our favorite experiences—because of Luis’s care, enthusiasm, and ability to turn any condition into a moment of wonder. He’s adaptable to different kinds of groups and paces, always checks in, and is simply a thoughtful, joyful person to be around.

Read More other guides are very good at what they do they keep track of the animal’s movements and we were able to see so many amazing species. We saw 2 Tapier, a Boa, Scarlett Macaw, Cayman, Monkeys, Ant Eaters and so much more!! The Corcovado Explorers give you the best experience they are a wealth of information.

Wonderful experience and loved our Guide  - We loved our experience, my partner Samuel and I went to La Leona with Danier and had quite the adventure, just driving in and out we saw so many animals!... Read More Tons of blue morpho butterflies, scarlet macaws, a sloth and more and the trek itself was super fun and fulfilling and saw plenty more, some great interactions with Spider monkeys especially! Danier was great and we would go back for sure! The trek itself was long but worth it, lots of walking on the beach.

Tomas is the BEST!!!  - Our family spent an amazing day with Tomas as our guide at the Osa Conservation Center. It was amazing to learn from and experience the environment with a local who... Read More knows literally everything. The Conservation Center is far less visited than Corcovado and is well worth a visit - our only regret is not staying overnight. We saw incredible wildlife, including breaching pilot whales from the shore! Pura vida!

Corcovado Tour  - I am here on the Osa studying with a group of college students for a few months and we were lucky enough to spend a couple days in the park... Read More with Tomas. These few days were absolutely incredible, and a highlight of my trip so far for sure. Tomas was not only incredibly knowledgeable about the wildlife and ecosystems here, but also such a warm and friendly person to spend time with.
